Organization Development

Organization Development is about creating a high performing team or organization - one capable of achieving its potential.  We focus on three areas: Strategic Planning, Leadership Development, and Improving Business Processes.

Peak Performance Solutions' approach is to do an assessment of the organization's or Team's underpinnings (Vision, Mission, Values, Charter, Goals and Objectives), and their progress, strengths and barriers.  Following that, we work with the leadership to put together a customized plan that will effectively move the organization forward to achieve its goals.

Strategic Planning:

The best way to predict the future is to create it! Strategic Planning is a process that determines the future of the organization and what organizational resources will be needed to ensure success. The process involves determining what business opportunities exist, and what resources are available to capitalize on those opportunities. It is a process that involves not only determining where a company is going, but also how it is going to get there, creating goals and effective action plans.

Developing a strategy and a plan is far more effective than leaving the future to chance. Furthermore, the key factors that create higher levels of motivation and commitment continuously fuel higher levels of achievement. Finally, the effective implementation of the plan is as important as planning. This is the true determining factor as to whether or not a company is successful.

Continuous Business Process Improvement (CBPI)

CPBI is the workhorse of customer loyalty.  It is about making changes that continuously improve the way an organization operates its core business processes and functions, such as new product development, or sales and distribution.

CPBI reduces cost, improves speed, and increases profitability, adding shareholder value.  At the same time, customers are the beneficiaries of this effort and develop a greater sense of loyalty.  This means repeat customers and the ability to attract new ones.  Who couldn't use that in these times?  In many cases it can mean turning an organization from crisis mode to profitability.   In other cases it can mean making existing processes work more effectively.  Q100 companies are a subset of the Standard and Poor index who have put some of these principles in place.  They consistently outperform the S&P index.

CBPI begins with a clear vision and business strategy that focuses on implementing cultural and system changes.  Strong company leadership is necessary for meaningful results - without it, these efforts fail.

The philosophy is related to the "Moments of Truth" model, shown below, where every interaction a customer has with any operation in your organization, from manufacturing to the condition of your office, is a moment of truth when they make judgments about your company.  CPBI provides a way to make these moments positive experiences.

Two of the elements of CPBI are Lean principles, and Cycle Time Reduction:

Lean Principles

Lean is the process of systematically removing wasted resources from business processes - "muda" is the Japanese word which describes anything that is not necessary to manufacture a product.  Toyota pioneered this "Kaizen" process, and other companies adopted it because of its many advantages.

Despite its manufacturing heritage, its principles can be applied universally to any business process.  Peak Performance Solutions has adapted lean principles to fit nicely into the world of services, and administrative work processes. We have applied lean thinking to offices, warehouses, mortgage approval processes, house rental processes, and sales processes. This article on a movie theater experience shows how universal Lean Thinking is.  In every case, applying lean principles resulted in dramatic reductions in time, cost and money.  Our mission is to spread this approach throughout the non-manufacturing sectors.

Cycle time Reduction (CTR)

CTR eliminates waste and unnecessary time in work processes, speeding up production and administrative tasks.  The benefits are reduced operating costs, faster production, faster decision making, happier customers, and higher profits. CTR is a special subset of Lean thinking.
